NGM HISTORY

NGM Pedalboard Systems was founded in 1998 by Nick Midulla after years of searching for a way to save time and hassles associated with using floor effects pedals in a live playing situation. We are a custom pedalboard manufacturing company that makes a one of a kind product for working musicians worldwide. Located in Houston Texas, NGM Pedalboard Systems is dedicated to working with each customer individually to build him or her a pedalboard designed for their specific set up and needs.

NGM Pedalboards are designed and constructed with years of gigging and touring experience in mind. Playing five nights a week, I soon realized that taping my pedals to the stage and watching them get kicked around and unplugged was not professional. Also, I needed a better way to speed up my set up and breakdown time at gigs, so I started to experiment with building my own pedalboard. . Since, like all tone gurus, I only used foot pedals and had no need or want for multi effects units or racks, I had no choice but to start mounting my stuff on plywood. Crude at first, I quickly saw that it was the way to go and began to make improvements on the concept. At first it was real simple, just wood, duct tape and batteries. Later I mounted a strip outlet and started using a/c adapters to save money on batteries, which worked great until someone spilled beer all over my board, frying the outlet and three pedals. I then enclosed the outlet portion to keep the connections safe while on stage. Other problems soon reared their ugly head.

The band I was in used a van to haul our gear in and my pedalboard was very vulnerable. I had to keep it flat which took up more space especially since I couldn't stack or store anything on top of it for fear of damaging my effects. Also, I had to make a second trip to the van before and after each gig because I had to carry my pedalboard like a lunch tray. I realized what I had to do, so I designed a way to attach a lid to the pedalboard so I could carry it with one hand and store it on its side. It worked great, saved a ton of space, kept all of my expensive vintage pedals safe and saved me two trips a night to the van.

Over the next couple of months, I made different boards and kept improving them as well as creating new features. People began commenting on how cool it was and I soon found myself talking about all of the advantages it has. "There's no product like it so I had to build one myself" or "it saves me 15 minutes before and after each gig, stores all my guitar gear and it's rugged as hell", I would say. Friends and other players started asking me to build them one for their set up, which I did, making even more improvements on the design and concept.

After building them for people in Houston and Austin and receiving very positive feedback, I knew I was on to something. I decided to start my own company, NGM Pedalboard Systems. A company dedicated to making guitar players lives a whole lot easier!
